Key identification features : The trunk is about 2 m high, bearing crown of fronds at the apex; scales densely covering the younger fronds. Stipes swollen at base, bearing very small, pale brown, appressed hairs throughout. Lamina bipinnate, oblong-lanceolate, petiolate, about 15 cm apart, oblong-lanceolate, acuminate, base truncate; basal few pairs slightly reduced; pinnules acuminate, margin pinnatifid to the costa; ultimate lobes about 15 pairs, alternate, oblong; Pinnae pale green below, dark green above; texture herbaceous; appressed scales distributed on lower surface of the costa throughout. Sori seated at the vein forks of the lower half of segments, exindusiate, paraphyses intermingled with sporangia; spores trilete.
