  • Key identification features : Stem erect, rooting at the base only, upto 3 mm thick without leaves, green to pink colour when fresh, stramineous to pink colour when dry, with about five primary, alternate branches which bear several times branched secondary branches. Leaves dimorphic throughout, contiguous on main stem and on axis of primary branches, spreading and dense on the rest of the branches, lateral leaves oblong-ovate, denticulate on the acroscopic margin, entire on the rest, base unequal; median leaves ovate, aristate, arista less than half the length of the leaf, margin dentate; cones dorsiventral; sporophylls dimorphic, lateral sporophylls bear megasporangia, others with microsporangia; microspores brick red in mass.
