  • Key identification features : Rhizome upto 3 mm thick, often branched, densely covered by narrowly triangular scales all over. Stipes scattered, pale brown or stramineous above, tetragonal, glabrous and glossy. Lamina deltoid or ovate, bipinnate; pinnae upto 15 x 5 cm, imparipinnate, basal pairs often bear one to three branches on the basal acroscopic side; pinnules upto 10 pairs, alternate, shortly stalked; veins slightly distinct below, indistinct above, free, reaching the base of the sori in fertile ones; pinnules dark green, glabrous above and below; texture herbaceous. Sori submarginal, continuous all along the margin except at the cuneate base in unlobed pinnules, discontinuous in lobed ones; spores pale brown.
