- Key identification features : Rhizome erect, upto 2.5 cm thick, densely scaly at the apex, scales linear-lanceolate. Stipes tufted, upto 6.5 cm long, 2 mm thick, glossy, brittle, densely scaly at the base, sparsely above with persistent bases of scales. Lamina linear-lanceolate, narrowed towards both the ends, bipinnatifid; pinnae upto 25 pairs, opposite, few pairs of basal pinnae reduced to deflexed auricles; largest pinna ovate, sessile; pinnules upto seven pairs, oblong, adnate with the costa, margin lobed more or less half way to the costule; spex of the lobe truncate, margin entire; pinnae dark green, glabrous above and below; texture herbaceous, rachis sparsely covered by dark brown, linear scales and persistent bases of scales. Sori semicircular, solitary or in pairs on the margin of each lobe; spores monolete, globose, yellowish-brown.
