  • Key identification features : Rhizome is short, creeping and covered by ovate-lanceolate scales at the apex. Stipes are arranged in two closely, alternate rows, dark green when fresh and grey-green when dry, sparsely scaly at the base, rarely scaly above. Sterile lamina lanceolate, simply pinnate, progressively narrowed towards caudate; pinnae upto 25 pairs, one or two pairs of basal pinnae slightly reduced, opposite at the base; pinnae dark green when fresh, dark olivaceous when dry, glabrous above and below; texture firm, herbaceous; dark brown coloured, small and toothed scales scattered all over the rachis of fertile and sterile fronds, fertile fronds with longer stipes; fertile pinnae upto 25 pairs; sori acrostichoid, covering the lower surface, covering the costa when mature; spores monolete, spherical, pale brown.
