  • Key identification features : Rhizome short creeping, densely covered by lanceolate scales at the apex. Stipes clustered, dark brown at the base, grey-brown or stramineous above, densely scaly at the base, sparsely scaly or glabrous above. Lamina ovate, simply pinnate with terminal pinna similar to the lateral ones; pinnae upto six pairs, ascending, lanceolate, abruptly narrowed towards the acuminate apex, margin entire, costa slightly raised and rounded below; veins slightly raised and distinct below; pinnae pale green when fresh, adaxially reddish-brown when dry, glabrous above and below, texture herbaceous; fertile pinnae contracted ones, sori numerous, borne on the netted veins in two rows along each distinct costule; sori upto 2 mm in diameter, exindusiate; spores ellipsoid or reniform, pale brown.
