- Key identification features : Lower pinnae, 2-3 pairs, gradually reduced and more widely spaced, rhizome short-creeping; pinnae lobed more than half way to costa. Rhizome short to long creeping, upto 1 cm thick, sparsely covered by lanceolate scales. Stipes upto 2 cm apart, pale brown to dark brown, scaly at the base, glossy and glabrous above. Lamina oblong-lanceolate; pinnae upto 20 pairs with upto 10 pairs of progressively reduced basal pinnae, reduced basal pinnae opposite or subopposite; unreduced pinnae alternate; largest pinna 19 x 2 cm, apex acuminate, base broadly cuneate, margin lobed about half way to the costa; lobes upto 35 pairs; veins upto eight pairs, free; sinus membrane mostly absent; 1 mm long, slender, unicellular, acicular hairs densely distributed all over the rachis and upper surface of costa; sori median on veins, upto six pairs; indusia with short hairs, spores planoconvex or reniform, brown.
