  • Key identification features : Aquatic plants; stock erect or suberect, bearing thick fibrous or fleshy, long roots, densely on the abaxial side, apex covered by soft and uniformly pale brown scales. Fronds arranged in rosette; stipes terete, fleshy, pale green, densely ridged all over with few scattered scales. Lamina dimorphous; sterile lamina bipinnatifid or tripinnate, ovate; primary pinnae about five pairs, slightly ascending, alternate, shortly stalked, pinnatifid upto 2-3 mm to the costa, ultimate lobes linear, margin entire; veins distinct above and belowl; Lamina glabrous above and below, pale green; texture herbaceous. Fertile lamina ovate, tripinnate, ultimate segment needle like, margin reflexed and completely covering the lower surface on which the two rows of larger sporangia are borne; spores trilete, pale green.
