  • Key identification features : A fairly tall deciduous tree. Leaves grow close, crowded at the ends of the branches. They are pinnately compound with a terminal leaflet at the tip. The leaflets are ovate-lanceolate and toothed. Inflorescences are clustered at the end of branches. Flowers are in panicles, 1-1.2 cm long and 0.6-0.8 cm across, bell-shaped. Stamens 10, with hairy filaments. Fruits resemble small grapes and are sometimes borne in great profusion becoming very conspicuous when the leaves fall. Some of the leaves turn orange or brilliant-crimson in rainy season. Fruits are edible, eaten raw, cooked or pickled.
