- Key identification features : A large less branched shrub with simple opposite broad leaves. Flowers numerous, showy, in terminal panicle; pedicels often twisted. Flowers 2 cm. across with exserted stamens and style. Corolla pale blue, the larger lower lobe is dark bluish-purple. Fruit is a drupe, somewhat succulent, broadly obovoid and 4 lobed. A plant of moist wooded terrain.
