- Key identification features : A single-stemmed tree. Bole is cylindrical, attaining a height of 30 m and dia. of 1.2 m. Branchlets are covered with many leaf scars. Young stems are pubescent. Leaves are pinnate, large, 45-60 cm long and crowded at branch ends; leaflets are about 5-10 pairs, ovate-oblong, sickle-shaped, 7.5-15 and 2.5-5 cm, thin, shiny, glabrous and glaucous beneath, very oblique at the base. Flowers are greenish-white, polygamous, in lax axillary panicles. Calyx lobes are minute, pubescent, triangular and acute. Petals are about 0.4 cm long, glabrous and oblong-lanceolate. Fruit is a samara, 5-7.5 cm long, reddish-brown, flat and membranous. Seed is compressed and circular. Bark grey, rough, thick with resin grains.
