  • Key identification features : Large shrubs to small trees with hirsute branchlets. Leaves hirsute, elliptic-oblong, with entire margin. Flowers white, sessile. Fruit is a drupe covered with hairs. The species can be distinguished from others by their strigose hairs throughout.

  • Comments : Undergrowth of forest floor in evergreen forests of southern Western Ghats, also seen in Shola forests as an undergrowth. Known to extend towards northern Western Ghats (Ravikumar & Udayan, 2004)
