  • Key identification features : An annual grass. Culms erect or prostrate and rooting at nodes. Leaves are linear-acuminate, glaucous; ligule short and membranous. Spikes digitately radiating, up to 3.8 cm. long. Spikelets 3-4 mm. long and 3-5-flowered. Lower glume ovate, acute. Upper glume as long as the lower or slightly longer, oblong, awned. Lemmas strongly cuspidate; lowest 3-3.5 mm.
