Key identification features : A small tree with young parts hispid and internodes hallow. bole is buttressed. Leaves are simple, obovate to elliptic-oblong, leaf-blade is acuminate, scabrid, upto 27 cm long, 11 cm broad, basal nerves 2-4, lateral nerves 4-7 pairs, petiole upto 4.5 cm long. Figs are globose, clustered on tubercles of the stem or on separate leafless rooting runners arising from the trunk. Bark peels off in irregular flakes.

Comments : Frequent in moist places and along banks of rivers. A characteristic hollow Ficus with rough hairs on the fruit.
