  • Key identification features : The species is allied to Chlorophytum arundinaceum Baker but differs in its roots possessing root buds and ellipsoid tubers, its pedicels being jointed above the middle, perianth lobes 3 - 5-nerved and filaments shorter than anthers.

  • Comments : In addition to sexual reproduction, the species propagates through formation of buds on roots, which grow into new plants. The chromosome number of the species is 2n = 42. Discovered by Chandore et al from Khanapur, Belgaum, Karnataka. Found underneath bushes on hill slopes in secondary forest; c. 700 m alt. Grows in association with Asparagus racemosus Willd. Cyanotis tuberosa Schult. f., Curculigo orchioides Gaertn., Drimia congesta Bullock, Geodorum densiflorum (Lam.) Schltr., Habenaria furcifera Lindl., Iphigenia stellata Blatt., Wrightia tinctoria R. Br., Grewia nervosa (Lour.) Panigrahi etc. (Chandore et al, 2012).
