- Key identification features : A functionally dioecious, much branched shrub. Bark greyish-brown. Most parts are tomentose. Leaves are coriaceous, elliptic or elliptic-oblong, glabrous above and pubescent beneath, margin crenulate, nerves upto 15 pairs, ascending and prominent. Flowers are in dense bracteate, pedunculate, trichotomous spikes arranged in panicles. Calyx is 5-lobed, covered with minute hairs. Corolla white with a short tube. Limb 2 3-lobed. Upper emarginate, lower one subequal. Stamens 4, exerted in male flowers. Nutlets are oblong-obovoid, pubescent and often solitary, villous at apex.
