  • Key identification features : A perennial subshrub up to 1 m. high, branching from the base. Leaves are simple, alternate, lanceolate with blunt-toothed margin. Inflorescence mostly terminal, both male and female flowers are on the same branch. Flowers small, inconspicuous; male flowers with both sepals and petals, whereas female flowers have only sepals. Stamens many. Fruit three-lobed, dehiscing into single seeded bits.
