- Key identification features : A shrub or a small tree growing up to 6-7 m height. Leaves are simple, elliptic to broadly ovate, glaucous beneath and drying black above. Flowers are axillary, small, greenish-yellow to pink. Male flowers are in few flowered fascicles whereas female flowers are solitary. Perianth of 6 persistant lobes. Fruit is a globose schizocarpic capsule that is red when ripe.
