  • Key identification features : A lofty tree of Western Ghats. Leaves are simple, oblong-lanceolate, up to 23 cm long, 7.5 cm broad with a swollen petiole and yellow tomentum. Flowers are bisexual and borne on branched inflorescence. Petals are ovate-lanceolate and hairy outside. Stamens are as many as 15. Sepals are enlarged and remain persistant as wings on the fruit, greenish but turning to red when fruit matures.
