  • Key identification features : A long-trailing plant with a thick rootstock, rooting at the nodes. Leaves are deeply 2-lobed, sometimes merely emarginate, glabrous and resemble that of the goat's foot. Flowers are solitary or sometimes 2 to 3 with peduncles upto 10 cm long. Sepals are unequal, the outer smaller than the inner, oblong and glabrout. Corolla is funnel shaped, purple-red. Capsules are ovoid, depressed encloseing many densely brownish-tomentose seeds.

  • Comments : Ocasional on sandy soils and along river and marshes. Leaves are used in rheumatism. Plant is a good soil-binder.
