- Key identification features : A medium to large size evergreen tree up to 25m high. Bark is often blackish or whitish-gray, exfoliating into very small dark, 4-sided scales. Leaves are simple, ovate to ovate-elliptic with entire or crenate margin. Inflorescence is axillary, dichotomously branched cyme that does not exceed the leaves. Flowers are white with a green disk and yellow anthers. Ovary is partly immersed in the disc, 2-3 locular with short style. Fruit is a drupe.
